GN is short for Gastronorm, which is used to measure the size of trays, pans and containers that are created to an industry standard. Gastronorm sizes were created by the European Standards Committee as a way to standardise the container sizes in the catering industry.
Melamine is a synthetic resin which is hardened and formed after heating. Melamine tableware is easy-to-clean and durable, making it perfect for many at-home uses.
Melamine is food safe - approved and certified by SGS. It is heat resistant and can withstand temperatures from -20ºC to +70ºC. It is also corrosion resistant, non-toxic, non-odorous, lightweight and deformation free. For this reason, it is highly recommended for table and buffet service.
However it is not not recomended to microwave or for use in the oven or over a direct flame.
